Abstract : A general review is given of fluctuations in superconductors and the temperature region in which critical fluctuations occur. It is pointed out that the small parameter governing the critical region does not also generally control the observability of fluctuations in superconductors. This remark is illustrated by elementary and phenomenological discussions of the fluctuation contribution to the electrical conductivity and the magnetic susceptibility. Finally a brief sketch is given of a microscopic calculation of the contribution of fluctuations to the magnetic susceptibility. (Author)
