Abstract : This book presents a radioactive-isotope method for continuous or periodic control of wear resistance of machine parts and mechanisms with emphasis on its application in controlling wear of cylinder bushings in internal combustion engines. This method is suitable for wear control during engine bench testing, and requires isotopes with low radioactivity only, thus eliminating any need for special equipment. The book is intended for engineers working on problems of machine wear and its reduction and, it may also be used by students of machine engineering at the institutions of higher education as well as in technical schools.
