Abstract : Experiments were made using optically homogeneous calcium-sodium glass. Thermal expansion curves were obtained experimentally using a Type DKV dilatometer. It was found that the distance between the electrodes has very little effect on the electromotive force. There is, however, a more complicated relationship between the electromotive force and the form of the electrodes. The results indicate that the residual stresses have an effect on the concentration gradients in the layer at the electrode. (Author)
