Abstract : On the basis of the assumptions of Prandtl's lifting line theory an integro-differential equation for the optimum distribution of circulation over the span for a system of two wings located a certain distance apart and having the same angle of bank Beta with respect to the ground is derived. An approximate solution of this equation is found and expressions are obtained for the lifting force and pitch-moment coefficients. The results obtained for a practical example (Beta = 15 degrees) are given in graphical form. (Author)
