Abstract : An idealization of the renal vascular system and the surrounding thermal mass was outlined. The model is to be used to make transient time-temperature predictions for freezing and thawing of kidneys by perfusing liquids. Some of the anatomical information required in this model development was outlined. A kidney perfusion apparatus was designed, constructed, and tested; it is to be used to measure the overall renal flow resistance as a function of temperature and pressure level as well as perfusion time.
