Abstract : Meteorologists are faced with the problem of working out the numerical forecasting of the geopotential of the 100, 50, 30, 20 mb isobaric surfaces, as well as forecasting of wind, temperature, and turbulence at these levels 12-24 hours in advance of the period of radiosonding in the Soviet Union. The solution of these problems can be achieved only through the objective analysis of the field of the geopotential and temperature at the higher levels, and consequently, through the regular reception of observations from all specified altitudes. The deployment of radiosonde capsules in the northwestern and eastern regions of the USSR should vary. The most expensive elastic capsules should be used primarily in the northwestern regions of the USSR. (Author)
