Abstract : The friction properties of asbestos-rubbers made from various synthetic rubbers and asbestos, baryta, iron minimum, etc., were investigated by examining the thermal stability of the material when subjected to friction. The measurements showed that asbestos-rubbers possess good braking efficiency and durability and can be used in a braking block. Moisture decreases the braking efficiency of this material. (Author)
