Abstract : The work investigates the approximate method of designing statically indeterminable minimum-weight systems by using the apparatus of specular function theory. The specular functions used in this work transform into simple nonmodular functions; the law of using them is ascertained; and the minimum values of these functions are sought by analytical and graphical methods. The successive approximation method is used in multivariable functions, and the computation is conducted within the confines of Hooke's law with regard only to bending moments (stability questions omitted).
