Abstract : Dimensionless formulas are derived for determining the optimum rise in pressure and temperature during the operating cycle of a simple gas turbine installation from the standpoint of minimum cost for mechanical or electrical output energy. It was found that the optimum degree of temperature rise decreases with an increase in the cost of the installation. Proportionality is assumed between the cost of the installation and the rated power of the turbine and compressor in determining the optimum technical and economic degree of pressure rise. Application of the proposed formulas is illustrated by calculating the optimum pressure rise for the GT-6-750 gas turbine installation. (Author)
