Abstract : The subject matter of this paper evolved during the process of finding the asymptotic form of the stream function for the flow of an Oseen-like fluid past a paraboloid of revolution. Certain simple-appearing ordinary differential equations of the second order had to be solved in order to obtain the second and third approximations to the stream function and led in a natural way to a generalization of the exponential integral. The definitions of these generalized exponential integrals, their asymptotic and series expansions, the recurrence relations and derivatives parallel those of the well-known exponential integrals.
