Abstract : Observations were conducted on 64 patients admitted to the Military Field Surgery Clinic's Research Laboratory for the Investigation of Shock and Terminal States. All those admitted with cranio-cerebral trauma had combined injuries. On the basis of the observations it is supposed that in patients with grave combined trauma the 'reversibility' of the pathological changes is determined by the character and the localization of the brain injuries. Injuries to other parts of the body in most patients merely aggravate the pathological processes. The electroencephalogram may, in combinations with certain neurological tests, be used as a prognostic criterion in this group of patients. (Author)
