Abstract : The report covers the portion of project LO LO CAT which was flown over Southeastern Kansas and Northeastern Oklahoma. Large quantities of data were taken over a period of 15 months during numerous flights at constant absolute altitudes of 250 feet and 750 feet (i.e., the flights were conducted in the contour mode). Data were not taken continuously but were recorded in discrete 'legs' each 5-1/2 minutes in length. From each of these 5-1/2-minute data conditions a maximum gust velocity was computed for the vertical, longitudinal, and lateral axes. Tabulations of frequency distributions of these maximum gusts and plots of exceedance probability for a given season at each of the two absolute altitudes are contained in the report. Plots of the average number of nautical miles flown to obtain a given maximum gust level in a given season are aslo included. (Author)
