Abstract : The purpose of the program was to select and develop maximum modulus elastomeric materials for aircraft tires to increase the resistance to thermal and oxidative degradation to oils and chemicals, and to wear and cutting. Such improvements in these parameters would offer improved resistance to aging and deterioration of USAF aircraft tires. From eight candidate elastomers, two synthetic and one non-synthetic elastomers were selected. During construction of tires for qualification tests, processing techniques were developed for the new polyurethane materials. (Author)
