Abstract : The action of vibrations with a frequency up to 250 Hz on personnel working with pneumatic machine tools causes an increase in vascular tonus; with an increase in vibration frequency to 300-800 Hz the character of the shifts is altered - a tendency to a reduction in vascular tonus is noted. One of the early manifestations of the influence of high-frequency vibration on the organism is a reduction in vibration sensitivity. The degree of change is in a definite dependence on the length of service, the duration of vibration action during a shift, and the frequency of the vibrations. In contrast to low- and medium-frequency vibrations, high-frequency vibrations do not lead to noticeable changes in algesic sensitivity; the later cannot serve as a criterion for evaluating the effect of high-frequency vibration on the organism of the worker. Despite the absence of rebound and the insignificant stress of the muscles, working with a high-frequency rotary machine tool causes distinct changes in the motor apparatus of the arm. (Author)
