Abstract : The purpose of the study was to evaluate what effect self-expressed negative test attitude has upon actual test performance. A secondary purpose was to investigate the interrelationships among self, co-worker, and supervisory job performance ratings of enlisted men who expressed a negative test attitude. Military occupational specialty (MOS) test scores and self, co-worker, and supervisory ratings on job performance scales were analyzed for a group who indicated they would not or did not attempt to obtain as high a score as possible on their MOS evaluation test.
