Abstract : In missiles the largest amount of their weight is represented by propellant. Many of the spinning missiles exhibited unpredicted flight behavior, which in some cases could be described as effects of the sloshing of the spinning liquid. For this reason the behavior of the liquid in a spinning annular cylindrical container with only a slightly deviating free liquid surface was treated for free oscillations and forced translational as well as pitching oscillations. A mechanical model was also derived for a simplified description of the liquid motion in a spinning tank. It also serves the introduction of linear damping. The location and size of a baffle is presented for the purpose of propellant confinement in the case of sudden longitudinal acceleration change. (Author)
