Abstract : The penetration depth of solar extreme ultraviolet radiation from 1 to 1700A vertically incident on the earth's atmosphere has been calculated. The model atmospheres used were Models 2, 5, and 9 of the 1965 CIRA atmospheres, which represent atmospheric conditions during low, moderate, and high solar activity, respectively. The results are presented as graphs of penetration depth (attenuation of the radiation to 1/e of its original intensity) vs wavelength. (Author)
