Abstract : By the term multifuel engines, the authors mean diesel engines which are capable of operating on various liquid oil fuels. Usually the range of fuels used for these engines is limited on the one hand to diesel fuels and on the other to motor vehicle and aviation gasoline with an octane up to 100. The following topics are discussed by the authors: Fundamentals of Mixture Formation and Combustion Theory in Diesel Engines; The Effect of Various Fuels on the Operation of Diesel Engines and Multifuel Engines; Design Peculiarities of Some Foreign and Domestic Diesel Engines Operating on Various Fuels; and Reliability and Life of Engines Operating on Various Fuels and Their Operating Characteristics.
