Abstract : A method of finding the asymptotic solution of problems of wave propagation in dispersive media is presented. The medium is supposed to be linear, nonhomogeneous, temporal and spatial dispersive. Two large parameters, rho, mu are introduced; the first of them describing the spatial dispersion of the medium. The method is an attempt to find asymptotic solutions of a special kind of integro-differential equations. The expansions lead to a ray method, i.e., functions that occur satisfy ordinary differential equations along special characteristics curves: the rays. (Author)
