Abstract : Anisothermal dilution calorimeter of the Van Ness type is described. The calorimeter is suitable for studying either endothermic or exothermic mixing. Results of measurements of enthalpies of mixing are presented for the systems benzene + carbon tetrachloride, benzene + cyclohexane, cyclohexane, cyclohexane + n-hexane, p-dioxane + carbon tetrachloride, and benzene + dichloromethane at 25C, and for the system dichloromethane + p-dioxane at 30C. The performance of the calorimeter is evaluated on the bases of these results and their comparison with values from the literature. (Author)
