Abstract : The rate of occurrence of radio-aurora as observed by a VHF bistatic radio system operating in eastern Canada over a period of eleven years is reported. The diurnal and seasonal characteristics, although somewhat different from those reported earlier, are not inconsistent with the earlier results when the different conditions of the present experiment are taken into account. The threshold of detection of radio-aurora for this experiment was set at a level which produced an occurrence of just over two per cent when averaged over a whole sunspot cycle. The results emphasize the great variability of the auroral process ans specifically the variability of radio-aurora. (Author)
