Abstract : The internal partition function and the particle densities of the C2-molecule are calculated up to 10000K for thermodynamic equilibrium. For the heat of dissociation of C2 the recently established value being 6.11 eV was used. Furthermore both the triplet- and the singlet-system of C2 are applied for computation. Due to this fact the internal partition function rises within a factor of two, compared to the neglection of the single-system. That means the particle densities of C2 in the region of 5000K are lower than expected. Within the range of dissociation the maximum of the specific heat is shifted towards higher temperatures. Below of 3000K the calculated specific heats are in agreement with known data. (Author)
