Abstract : The paper reviews some previous explorations of the question of statistical dependence of operating components and the effects on system reliability and presents some results not previously worked out. In particular there is shown to exist a connection among three models that do not require the assumption of statistical independence of components. Under certain conditions these models can generate the same reliability prediction even though they appear to be derived under different assumptions.
