Abstract : The penetration of 1.88 MeV positrons and 1.77 MeV electrons in the rare earth metals including yttrium, neodymium, holmium and ytterbium foils show much larger positron-electron differences in their comparative ranges than the rest of the solids including C, Al, Cu, Sn and Pb. These are the first such measurements for rare earth metals. The ratio of ranges r+/r- for rare earths is comparable to some liquids such as water, benzene, toluene and methyl alcohol. (Author)
