Abstract : A theory is presented which shows the electrical resistivity due to localized spins to be proportional to ln(T squared + 1/(T sub 1) squared), where T sub 1 is the usual spin relaxation time of the local spins measured in spin resonance experiments. The predictions of this theory when applied to the spin relaxation arising from spin-orbit coupling agree with recent experiments on Cu:Mn+Pt alloys. The theory explains the observed anomalous dependence of the electrical resistivity both on temperature and on concentration of Pt impurities. (Author)
