Abstract : Clinical features of the disease, morphology of the agent, and mode of transmission were studied for the parasite Theileria sergenti. It is transmitted through the vector Haemaphysalis and is distributed in the Far East as well as in Central Asia and northern Caucasus. In southern conditions of the country, infection of large cattle is accomplished by Hyalomma anatolicum and H. scupense. This fact is of great epizootological importance. During a mixed infection with T. annulata and T. sergenti, Haemaphysalis neumanni ticks acquire and transmit only T. sergenti, while H. anatolicum ticks acquire and transmit both agents. (Author)
