Abstract : Two series of flight tests of the Honeywell Alpha-Radiation Hygrometer were conducted on an Air Weather Service WC-135. These tests were made to determine the hygrometer's operational capability on high-speed, high-altitude weather-reconnaissance aircraft. Both sensors tracked frost points as low as -80C and had sufficient depression capability to measure relative humidities below 2 percent at 30,000 feet with a 450-knot airspeed. The hygrometer was capable of measuring all humidity conditions encountered except when icing conditions blocked the air-sampling probe. (Author)
