Abstract : Following creep under combined tension and torsion for two hours, probes of 5-minute duration were made with different sequences along (a) a Misses ellipse through the loading point and (b) along a possible creep surface suggested by the normality concept as applied to previous experiments. The results indicate that the sequence of probing makes considerable difference and the shape of a creep surface estimated from normality is not necessarily consistent with a definition of the creep surface as a surface of constant creep rate.
