Abstract : During a series of measurements of the signal strength of the 20-MHz beacon transmission from satellite 1964-64A many records had to be disregarded because of the presence of amplitude sctinillations. A few of the scintillating records, however, exhibited regular fading patterns of the type described by Ireland and Preddey (1967). The purpose of this note is to discuss in some detail a particular example in which a diffractive pattern appeared centered on the magnetic field line passing through the receiving station. (Author)
