Abstract : A description is given of a calorimetric probe to measure the gas flow stagnation temperature. The probe consists of a housing containing a duct for the circulation of a liquid coolant, a converging nozzle for hot gas sampling, a thermocouple mounted at the end of the nozzle, and a differential hyperthermocouple to measure the coolant temperature. To increase the coolant temperature gradient inside the probe cavity at a reduced flow rate of the coolant through the probe, to prevent the probe from overheating, and to increase the temperature measurement range, the housing is made of perforated walls which are used to inject the coolant into the hot gas flow.
