Abstract : The invention involves a method for heat treating high-temperature nichrome strain gages pasted on by organosilicon cement B-58. The method includes several stabilizing heating and cooling cycles. In order to increase the measurement precision of the strain gages within the 20-600 degrees centigrade temperature range, the gages are heated at a 1000 degrees centigrade/hr rate to 500 degrees centigrade and then cooled at a 800 degrees centigrade/hr down to 350 degrees centigrade and at a 100 degrees centigrade/hr down to normal temperature. After checking the insulation resistance and balancing, the gage is subjected to two triple stabilizing anneals with heating to 600 degrees centigrade at a 1000 degrees centigrade/hr rate and cooling at a 600-800 degrees centigrade/hr.
