Abstract : A description, with ten illustrative examples, is given for computer program POLYZ evolved for isotropic plate, Laplace, Poisson and Elastostatic problems. The program consists of a main program with eighteen specialist subroutines, each of which discharges a specific task. Using this approach, the programming differences between problems in related topics, not covered in the present program, can generally be reduced to a difference in a few subroutines, and these can then be modified, or substituted, without too much difficulty, the greater part of the program remaining intact. Thus, a systems approach has been evolved. An effort has been made to make all examples self-explanatory. In all examples, the root mean square of the residuals on the boundary is given as the acceptance criterion for comparing the mathematical model with the physical model. (Author)
