Abstract : Anodic oxidn. of Ag was studied in O.1N NaOH. The samples were mech. polished plates 7.2 sq. cm and wires 0.6 sq. cm. The anodic c.d. was 50 Mu amp/sq. cm. The differential capacitance was measured by the pulse method. The capacitance varies considerably during electrolysis. The variation is greatest at the transition from the lower oxide to the higher one, which is accompanied also by a considerable change in electrode potential. With increasing thickness of the oxide, a relatively small but const. decrease in capacitance is observed. The detection of the type of condition of 'dry' surfaces of anodic Ag oxides pointed to the electronic nature of condition of the surface layer, which is in agreement with the measurements of photogalvanic activity of the electrode during electrolysis.
