Abstract : The paper examines the milk industry in India in detail in order to point up its problems. The recent efforts towards improvement are assessed; an overview of the entire country is presented along with an intensive examination of the present and potential milk-supplying hinterlands for Delhi, Bombay, Madras, and Calcutta. Emphasis throughout the work is on the areal and locational aspects of the milk supply. (Author)
