Abstract : A model has been developed which calculates optimal undergraduate pilot training production rates over a planning period. This is determined as a function of stated pilot requirements within a mathematically defined environment and various constraints. The model can also be used to perform an analysis of the sensitivity of the time pattern of pilot excesses and deficits (that is, the difference between requirements and inventory), to policy decisions and variations in structural parameters.
