Abstract : An essential difference was established in the textures of cold rolling of VT-1, VT5-1, and OT4-1 titanium alloys, which is related to changes in the mechanics of their plastic deformation under the effect of alloying elements. The heterogeneity of the rolling texture over the cross section of the specimen in the alloys under study is retained to the point of wide deformation; in the VT5-1 alloy the texture was found to be heterogeneous at all deformations studied (up to 70 percent). Intensive development of texture formation in VT1-1, VT5-1 and OT4-1 alloys begins in the 50-60 percent deformation region. The importance of studying titanium alloys of various composition is stressed since it provides additional information on the effects of alloying elements on the texture of rolling. All research published in the past on this subject was conducted basically after high deformations. (Author)
