Abstract : Employing more than fifty dogs as experimental animals and performing extensive laboratory investigation, it was found that Hydroxyethyl starch (.9% substituted made up as a 6% solution in saline) was able to cause a hemorrhagic diathesis in mongrel canine animals, which in all respects was similar to that observed with Dextran 70.
