Abstract : An attempt has been made to give a rigorous treatment of pressure or Stark broadening under the assumptions that: (1) the perturbating particles more independent one from the other on straight lines with constant velocity V. The particles are distributed in the space with mean density n, the directions of their velocities are uniformly distributed on the unit sphere; and (2) interactions of particles whose impact parameter is bigger than some constant sigma and interactions of particles with impact time t(p) at times t.
