Abstract : Photosynthesis, measured as light-dependent evolution of oxygen was demonstrated in both green and blue-green algae species at hydrostatic pressures exceeding 600 atmospheres. The methodology which made these observations possible is described. A technique to grow obligately aerobic organisms at increased pressures to high population densities is also described. (Author)
