Abstract : IR spectroscopy has shown that during the finishing of glass fiber by beta-cyanoethyltriethoxysilane on the surface of the fiber in the process of its treatment there is hydrolysis of the nitrile group and carboxyl radicals appear. This process is spectroscopically seen by the disappearance of the nitrile band and the appearance of a carbonyl band in the spectrum. (Author)
