Abstract : The global stratospheric circulation exhibits important perturbations shortly after equinox time which have been shown to be related to seasonal alterations of hemispheric geometries of the stratospheric tidal circulations based near 50 km altitude. Analysis has indicated that these same tidal circulations produce favorable conditions for noctilucent cloud formation and generate electromotive forces which motivate dynamo currents of the 100 km region. Comparisons presented here of the annual course of Sq magnetic field intensity, noctilucent cloud activity and stratospheric circulation intensity provide confirmation that these phenomena are directly related. The nature of this relationship is considered, and the implications of this mode of neutral-electrical interaction are discussed. (Author)
