Abstract : Research under the grant was in two basic areas. In the first, Gravitation, three of the principal topics were (1) Proof of positivedefiniteness of energy and timelike character of the fourmomentum for any gravitational system either with normal material sources or sourcefree. To this end, appropriate covariant methods for decomposing tensors were developed. (2) Unusual properties of solutions of coupled scalarmetric fields were found. (3) A consistent linear Lorentz invariant alternate to general relativity, with self coupling replaced by a nonlocal projection of the conserved part of the matter stress tensor; testable experimental consequences (so far) as in Einstein theory.
