Abstract : Propagation velocity, displacement amplitude, and electric field amplitude variations for a free and metallized surface on LiNbO3 were considered. The results indicate coupling to be stronger in LiNbO3 than other reported piezoelectrics. These results indicate the electromagnetic to acoustic energy conversion efficiency of interdigital transducers should be greater on LiNbO3 as has been experimentally observed by various investigatiors. The input resistance was calculated and the results indicated less than 3% power reflection for the case considered. (Author)
