Abstract : Solid CaF2 was studied from 550 to 850C with fluorine chemical potentials ranging from Ni,NiF2 to Ca,CaF2 coexistence. Measurements of ac conductivity, dc polarization currents and galvanic cell emfs were performed in this domain of experimental conditions. Assessment of these measurements in terms of mixed conduction theory leads to the conclusion that the ionic transference number for CaF2 is essentially unity over the range of conditions studied and hence CaF2 may be employed as a solid electrolyte therein.
