Abstract : Dielectric and rheo-optical investigations have been carried out on various brominated polyethylene samples. The crystallinities are reduced somewhat, from 55% to 42%, and the melting point is depressed by 4C. Annealing causes no increase in crystallinity, but perfects the interior of the spherulites. Variations in the mechanical and dielectric dispersions on annealing are interpreted on the bases of the gamma relaxation occurring due to amorphous intracrystalline material and the bromine atoms being situated on folds and/or scillia.
