Abstract : The paper presents the results of numerical experiments that were conducted to compare point and block iterative methods with respect to the relative computer time consumed and the number of iterations required for convergence. Although the latter consistently required a smaller number of iterations for convergence, the experimental results indicate that this does not necessarily imply smaller computation time for the overall calculation.
