Abstract : A finite-difference solution procedure has been coupled with the SABOR 5 finite element program to permit predicting the transient response of complex shells of revolution which are subjected to arbitrary transient external mechanical loading. The resulting computer program SABOR5-DRASTIC can be employed to predict the small-deflection linear-elastic transient responses of meridionally-curved, variable thickness, single-layer and/or bonded double-layer branched thin shells of revolution consisting of isotropic or of planar orthotropic material whose principal axes are inclined at an arbitrary angle to the meridional or the circumferential direction. Comparisons with reliable independent predictions have confirmed the accuracy and reliability of the SABOR5-DRASTIC predictions. Included are a FORTRAN IV listing of SABOR5-DRASTIC4 AND EXAMPLE PROBLEMS TOGETHER WITH APPROPRIATE INPUT AND SOLUTION OUTPUT DATA TO ENABLE THE USER TO CHECK THE ADAPTATION OF THIS PROGRAM TO HIS COMPUTER FACILITY.
