Abstract : The micro-creep of the commercial polymeric adhesive Epikote 817 was measured at 30C under a torsional shear load over a 6-month period. The design and assembly technique minimized strains in the testing fixture and provided a magnification of the creep of the adhesive. Creep was measured with an automatic autocollimator. The total creep displacement in the 6-month period was 12.2 x 10 to the -6th in. The creep rate for this adhesive under an 11.6-psi shear stress was 2.55 x 10 to the -9th in./in./month. (Author)
