Abstract : In the limit of adiabatic motion the number of gyrations per bounce is so constant that the gyrophase (mod 2pi) at which a particle crosses the equator advances by the same angular increment from each bounce to the next under azimuthal symmetry. Two particles having the same three adiabatic invariants recover their initial gyrophase relationship after each bounce period. Gyrophase organization of particles having the same three invariants is therefore able to survive several bounce periods of adiabatic motion, a result which may be important for triggered-emission and echo processes involving electron cyclotron waves.
