Abstract : Considerable data are obtained from an UV spectrophotopolarimeter which must be reduced in order to obtain the intensity and other components of the Stokes vector of the incident skylight. The telemetered data are obtained in analog form, digitized and then processed through a digital computer to obtain the Stokes vector. The purpose of this report is to describe this flow of digital information from both the raw telemetry data and the calibration data to the final results and to present several spectra obtained at various altitudes above 80,000 feet and sun aspect angles. Considerable previous work has been done along these lines which do produce feasible results, but the procedure described here includes refinements in these procedures as well as an estimation of the amount of error in each calculation, and the result is a single computer program that produces a time edit and time merge of the digitized data and the subsequent calibration or data reduction. The procedure has been tested with both generated and actual data and the spectra obtained indicates that the program and method of data reduction work satisfactorily. (Author)
